I remember how to make art after about a decade of trying my hardest. I think it was due to extensive trauma due to lots of emotional abuse and neglect, but I failed to realize something simple which I had been able to focus on when I first started making art and had made pieces arguably better than most of my future art... I also felt very pressured so I guess that caused it...
But my big discovery was to just take time making my art.... Simple, but I really wanted to make art faster. I had been doodling much more than trying to make serious art recently and I think that is how I finally gained a strong sense of how important it is to take time when making art that is worthy of sharing. Not only that, but I think focusing on crochet recently and watching a lot of videos on it also changed my mindset. Crochet has to take days for a small project unless you are really comfortable and passionate so it made it easy to think of my art the same way. Back when I started doing pixel art for the first time, I was also just getting into knitting and crocheting, although I think crochet ends up being more important because it is more straight forward to plan with and understand your progress. So my mindset is somewhat similar to when I started and was hoping to make a game. But even if that game ended up being my first dropped project, I have improved myself in numerous ways and the only limitation holding me back is my environment and the endless stressors and pressures.
